Feb 28, 2009 Saturday , more than 250 turned up at the Church of the Holy Trinity to watch the movie “Fireproof” starring Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea, who played the married couple Caleb and Catherine Holt, whose marriage was marred by quarrels, misunderstanding and mistrust. His Grace Archbishop Nicholas Chia was present at the screening of the movie and commented on the relevance of the movie in today’s marriages . Marriage is not a contract but a covenant and God has to be the central figure to ‘fireproof’ it against the many hot spots that may emerge from time to time. “Our Love circle meeting was scheduled for this evening and this movie is a great way for us to meet and watch this together” said Richard & Cecilia Sim . The turnout was overwhelming and the Main Hall was filled to capacity . The story is indeed very touching and many people were seen wiping their tears at the scene of the reconciliation between Caleb and Catherine. The 40 days “Love Dare” challenge in the movie is similar to the “44 hours” dare challenge of the ME weekend. ME couples are encouraged to reach out to others who have yet to experience the ME weekend and to invite them to sign up and attend. This movie has the endorsements of prominent Catholic leaders such as Cardinal Francis E George of Chicago, President of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Carl Anderson, supreme knight of the Knights of Columbus and 100 marriage ministries Nationwide in the United States.
